MARINES VERSION OF THE BALLAD OF THE GREEN BERET

Flaming soldiers from the sky,

Watch them fall, watch them die,

Some damn fool didn't get the word,

Not to smoke on that silver bird......

One hundred Berets will march tonight.

They'll get lost, but that's all right,

One lone Marine will heft his pack,

Go on out and bring them back......

You too can be a Green Beret,

Go rushing in, and save the day,

Fifty cents is all it takes,

And two box-tops from Post brand flakes......

Silver wings they wear with pride,

Even though they're silver dyed,

On their waist these wings are found,

To keep their pants from falling down......

Barry Sadler, he wrote this song,

'Bout the Green Beret, who can do no wrong,

But when it comes to glory and fame,

The Corps will kick their butts,

And take their names......

I know this song won't be a hit,

But no Marine really gives a flip.

A hundred Marines will crap today,

And wipe their butts with a Green Beret.
